In mid-2022, we engaged in discussions about concrete waste management with close friends in the concrete industry. We learned that surplus concrete resulting from over-orders and weather-related cancellations posed a significant challenge. This issue not only led to increased time and costs for concrete companies to dispose of the excess, but also strained landfills and processing facilities.

Research conducted in New Zealand indicates that concrete waste constitutes about 7% of all waste in the country, prompting us to consider alternative solutions.

Given our yard's proximity to a local concrete plant and the commitment of local concrete companies to enhance their recycling efforts, we decided to initiate a recycling program close to the source.

Using our specialised moulds, we can now repurpose and divert up to 20,000 kilograms of excess concrete from landfills each day by transforming it into high-quality mass concrete blocks. This represents a significant step forward in minimising waste and reducing the carbon footprint of the companies producing this concrete.
